It’s official! St. Louis will host 2020 NHL All-Star Game

Next, we'll have the Winter Classic on January 1, 2020, which is moving south for the first time ever.

During the 2019 Winter Classic, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman officially announced the locations and dates for the 2019-20 outdoor games, as wells as the 2020 All-Star weekend.

The B's won't be at 100% at Notre Dame Stadium, either, as first-pair defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward David Backes are set to miss the game.

The report didn't indicate which teams would be involved in the Heritage Classic but it's believed that the Winnipeg Jets will face either the Calgary Flames or Edmonton Oilers.

The 33,000-seat football facility, which opened in 2016, was slated to be the site of two outdoor games last February - a WHL contest between the Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors along with an National Hockey League alumni game. That matchup will take place at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan, on October 26, 2019.

The Boston Bruins captain teased the NHL's annual New Year's Day event with his latest Instagram post, which he sent out on Monday night from South Bend, Indiana. It's the third time St. Louis has hosted the All-Star Game and the first in thirty-two years, the last back in 1988. The weekend will feature several hockey-themed events, including the All-Stars Skills competition.
