Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg appeared at the DLD conference in Munich recent where she stated that she "understands the deep responsibilities we have", as the platform attempts to regain their users trust following a full year of user data leak scandals.
Facebook co-founder and chief Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday renewed his defense of the social network's business, arguing that targeting ads based on interests was different from selling people's data.
The three services would remain separate apps, but their infrastructure behind the scenes would be the same.
The statement said there was a lot of "discussion and debate" about how the system would eventually work.
After the changes take effect, a Facebook user could send an encrypted message to someone who only has a WhatsApp account, for example.
Progressive groups have been urging the Federal Trade Commission for months to carve up Facebook and split off Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger into their own companies. However, the common messaging feature on WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram will be unified, as per the report.
Zuckerberg reportedly believes that integrating the various messaging platforms of all of its acquired apps will ultimately make them more useful. But Zuckerberg now intends to seamlessly unify the three apps, the New York Times reported.
The New York Times report refers to particulat "internal strife" that led to the departure of both WhatsApp and Instragram's founders following Zuckerberg's increased push for the adjustment.
Alsowayan also had security concerns about the merging of the services.
"If Facebook is anxious about that then one way it can defend itself is to integrate those services", Weinstein said.
A Facebook representative asserted that this merger will result in a "fast, simple, reliable and private" new messaging service. With these kinds of numbers, the social network and its Messenger texting app cast a long shadow over all of the competition.

The planned integration was reportedly a major impetus for top Facebook executives to leave the company: WhatsApp's founders, Jan Koum and Brian Acton, in May 2018; and Instagram's founders, Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, in September.
