Actor Kevin Spacey pleads not guilty to groping busboy

Two-time Oscar Award victor Kevin Spacey appeared in court on Monday over allegations he sexually assaulted a young man.

The alleged incident is said to have lasted "three minutes" back in 2016, with documents obtained by DailyMail.com saying the Oscar victor "unzipped the man's fly, stuck his hands in his trousers and began to rub his penis".

Spacey's lawyer, Alan Jackson, has sought to poke holes in the case, noting that the teen did not immediately report the allegations.

In court documents, obtained by The Telegraph, Spacey himself also asked the judge that he be exempt from court session, arguing that his presence would "amplify the negative publicity already generated in connection with the case".

The Nantucket allegations were first raised in November 2017 by former Boston television journalist Heather Unruh, who told reporters Spacey groped her teenage son on July 7, 2016, at the Club Car restaurant and bar, where he worked as a bus boy.

Mitchell Garabedian, a lawyer for the victim, said he hoped to encourage other victims of sex assault to come forward.

A judge denied Spacey's bid to avoid appearing in person on Monday.

He said that after three minutes of this, Spacey went to the bathroom.

The Browns finished the season 3-2-1 in the division, and established themselves as a team to be reckoned with in the AFC North. Dixon, in particular, looked explosive, consistently picking up large chunks of yardage against a tough Browns defense.

He is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old male after plying him with alcohol at a bar in Nantucket in 2016. He said he had at least eight drinks with the actor, with Spacey buying majority and telling him, "Let's get drunk".

Spacey could face up to five years in prison if convicted.

In addition to the Nantucket case, two other investigations are under way in Los Angeles and London, where Mr Spacey served as artistic director of the prestigious Old Vic theater from 2004 to 2015. The teen said he texted and Snapchatted his girlfriend during the incident, including the video.

In that video, titled "Let Me Be Frank", Spacey spoke in character as his House of Cards persona Frank Underwood, addressing the camera as he stood in a kitchen wearing a Santa Claus apron.

The court appearance comes after perhaps the strangest response that any celebrity has had to the recent wave of assault allegations.

The star actor's career offers dried up after he was accused by actor Anthony Rapp in 2017 of making a sexual advance on him in 1986 when Rapp was 14 years old.

In court papers, the defense has also targeted Unruh, asserting that she is the "driving force" behind the prosecution of Spacey, who is charged under his real name, Kevin S. Fowler, and not her son.

"Spacey never said a word", member station WBUR's Frederic Thys reports.
