Google Fit update brings widgets and guided exercises this holiday season

With the app's improved activity logging and streamlined usage, you can start healthy habits ahead of the New Year's resolution trend.

Your most recent workout will also appear on your phone's home screen, and when you log a workout in your journal manually, you'll be able to set a custom activity level.

Google's own fitness tracking app for Android, Google Fit, is getting a minor upgrade meant to improve the overall fitness tracking. Other new features include a deeper workout report, including a Global Positioning System map, and the option to adjust intensity when manually adding a workout in the Journal tab.

Coming as early as this week, Google Fit will feature two home screen widgets that will allow users to glance at their health data more easily.

An update for Google Fit is rolling out this week, full of new features for users on Android and Wear OS devices. Do you use it on Wear OS or on your smartphone? Instead of just getting points for being "active", users could earn points for actually elevating their heart rate. This enables the app to analyze it more accurately and produce Heart Points (a reward for increasing your heart rate during exercise).
