EA Sports, the developer for the Madden franchise, have made a decision to remove former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt from the Madden NFL 19 video game in the wake of the scandal the player has been embroiled in.

Hunt's dramatic downfall from the league's fifth-leading rusher to a now unemployed athlete began in February 2018 when the NFL reportedly opened an investigation into the incident caught on camera at his Cleveland hotel-apartment residence.

"We are in the process of removing Kareem Hunt from the Madden NFL 19 roster, Madden Overdrive and Madden Ultimate Team", an EA Sports representative told TMZ Sports, which published the surveillance video of the incident. Nevertheless, he went unclaimed on waivers on Monday after his release from the Chiefs. A brawl broke loose between Hunt, the woman and four other individuals and the video ended with Hunt shoving a man into the woman and kicking her as she laid on the ground.

If the National Football League officials wanted to see the video, which is to say they might have and all this is an act where they are pretending as though they did not, it would have probably been the end of the Chiefs' run and Hunt's career.

The photo was released in late November as part of the New England Journal of Medicine's Images in Clinical Medicine series. During the week of his hospitalization the man's cough reportedly progressed to coughing up blood and phlegm.

In a live interview with ESPN's Lisa Salters, Hunt apologized for his actions.

"(There were) definitely some things that were said and did that I did not like, and that's not an excuse.

In a statement, the Chiefs organization gave an explanation to Hunt's release. Led by a versatile offense that featured a talented quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, an explosive receiver in Tyreek Hill and an elusive back in Hunt, Kansas City was a popular Super Bowl favorite that has had a beyond exciting season. And if they already had the police report, as they claim, why did they file for it again, if not to hide the fact that they'd known more than they pretended to?
