The groups of migrants Trump has sought to cast as a threat to the United States are still in southern Mexico, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the U.S. border. In his remarks Wednesday, Trump repeated his threat to cut off foreign assistance to Central American countries whose people have joined the caravan of migrants moving north to the U.S.
How many migrants will reach the U.S. border in the first wave remains unknown but, by the time the first two groups finish their 1,000 miles long journey, more than 7,000 United States soldiers and National Guardsmen will be awaiting their arrival.
President Donald Trump said he's ready to deploy as many as 15,000 troops to the southern border of the US, triple the amount his administration announced a day ago, in a bid to stop or detain a caravan of migrants traveling north to the U.S. "We're not letting them into our country".
The announcement comes as the president has sought to focus attention on immigration while trying to drum up GOP enthusiasm heading into next Tuesday's midterm elections. Fought back hard and viciously against Mexico at Northern Border before breaking through.
When asked on Thursday if troops would use force on migrants and refugees, Trump said if individuals are throwing rocks, they would be treated as if they have firearms.
At a campaign rally in Florida, the president doubled-down on his controversial idea to reform immigration: putting an end to the constitutional right to citizenship for babies born in the United States.
"I always want to tell the truth", Donald Trump said in an interview with ABC News. Agents said the group gathered along the US side of the Rio Grande border with Mexico before moving out to find a law enforcement officer so they could surrender, according to Border Patrol officials.Читайте также: Ricciardo blasts to pole in RBR front-row lockout
He said any migrants seeking asylum will have to present themselves at a point of entry and warned that anybody breaking the law with "meritless claims" will be held.
"The attempt to travel by bus failed", caravan coordinator Walter Cuello told the Associated Press Wednesday night.
It's not exactly clear when the migrant caravans will arrive at the USA border, but Trump said the military and Border Patrol will be ready to process them.
The official added that verbal orders went out this past weekend to some units and additional written orders are starting Monday.
The ostensible reason for the military operation dubbed "Operation Faithful Patriot" has been to free up the Border Patrol to carry out repressive measures against the caravan of immigrants, mostly women and children fleeing horrific violence and poverty in Central America.
The video is reminiscent of the infamous 1988 "Willie Horton" ad used against Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis and condemned as racist. It adds: "Democrats let him into our country..."
During his court appearance earlier this year, the Trump political ad shows Bracamontes saying, "The only thing that I (expletive) regret is that I (expletive) killed two".При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
