That places the massive explorable open-world game as the No. 2 game out of the gate, just behind Rockstar's "Grand Theft Auto V", the biggest seller of all time, which took in $1 billion in its first three days when it launched on September 17, 2013.

Records were broken all over.

This is also big news for Sony Interactive Entertainment because according to SIE, Red Dead Redemption 2 had the highest number of PSN pre-orders and highest day one digital sale. Rockstar Games sent out an official press release this morning about it.

As the wait for further news about the crash continued on Sunday, dozens of fans gathered at the King Power Stadium to lay floral tributes.

"Some staff have been encouraged by Rockstar to speak publicly".

Red Dead Redemption 2 also beat its biggest rival, Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. "Simply put, some people feel they can not go through this again". It's still to be announced when the Red Dead Online would come out, but the company's plans already seem to be aiming to the next projects.

While Grand Theft Auto V apparently pulled in slightly higher $1 billion in retail sell-through back in the day in a similar time period (making RDR2 the second biggest there), it launched on a Tuesday which puts it in a different category. This is the second-highest grossing entertainment launch ever behind Grand Theft Auto 5, another Rockstar Games release. "So the real question is what will consumer response to Red Dead Online be, as that will determine the strength of what will nearly certainly be an extended sales curve", Piscatella continued.

Early reviews say the game is "one of the best" of the year, if not the generation.
