Manchester United v Young Boys

As he plans to crank up the pressure on his players to secure a victory against Young Boys, Mourinho was asked if his players prefer to play away rather than at home due to the expectations of United's 75,000-plus supporters at Old Trafford.

"If you feel pressure stay at home and when I say "home" I don't say stadium home, I say stay home and watch on TV", he said.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw says he has enjoyed reacting to Jose Mourinho's criticism.

"I would say if we have Victor available for the Christmas period when we need, if possible, every player to be available for that hard period until the Newcastle match on 2 January, it will be good".

The 23-year-old England left-back has started all of United's games in the Champions League this term.

Shaw missed the global break through injury and was suspended for Saturday's drab 0-0 home draw against Crystal Palace - a match that ended with boos and Mourinho calling into question some of the players' "heart". "When the people come to support, come on. I want the team to go immediately and it is a bit frustrating". I want to play this game like a knockout game, like we have to win. Probably the fans think José told them to start slow [in recent games] but it's the opposite.

Republican Senator Ben Sasse, a frequent Trump critic, criticised the U.S. president's stance on Khashoggi's killing as "weak".

"What I want is a team to start strong, not waiting", Mourinho added.

"So Jones, Smalling and Bailly are the three we have".

Mourinho expects a response from his side in Tuesday's Group H encounter, having questioned some of his players' "heart", desire and intensity after the 0-0 draw with Palace.

"He will be out for quite a while", Mourinho told a news conference on Monday.

Shaw became the first of Mourinho's targets to address the remarks, when he said he had not taken the criticism personally but admitted it requires a "thick skin" to survive under the boss. Rio Ferdinand also criticised the move while over on RTE Sport, Damien Duff suggested it is not what you want to see from a manager towards a young player.

"We decide to change hotel so we are not coming from Manchester city centre, we are going to stay in hotel just a few metres away", said Mourinho.
