Where is the Woolsey Fire spreading to? Winds are expected to ease Friday morning but a second round of gusty winds is forecast to develop Saturday night into Sunday, CNN Meteorologist Haley Brink said.

A wildfire in Northern California's Sierra Nevada foothills quadrupled in size late Thursday as winds threaten to make it spread faster.

The fire has already triggered overnight evacuations of an estimated 75,000 homes in western Los Angeles County and eastern Ventura County.

Many people took to social media to register their distress. On Instagram she urged people to "pray for Calabasas". "A lot of roads were congested with traffic that just could not move, so we moved those into church parking lots and store parking lots where we could get them all together and have our resources there to protect them". "I pray everyone is safe", she wrote. My family is evacuated and safe.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office said Friday the victims were found in the same area in the town of Paradise, near a main thoroughfare heading out of town that was consumed by flames.

The fire is being driven west by 35 miles per hour (56 kmh) winds, fire officials said. One evacuee, Paradise resident Whitney Vaughan, went to work as usual on Thursday morning only to learn that the town was under immediate evacuation orders.

"Pretty much the community of Paradise is destroyed, it's that kind of devastation", he also told The Associated Press.

When the order came to evacuate, it was like the entire town of 27,000 residents made a decision to leave at once, they said.

Accidents gridlocked routes out of the town and residents abandoned their cars and fled on foot carrying children and pets, Reuters quoted local officials as saying.

Resources from across the state, including the Mother Lode, are being dispatched to help fight a growing mega fire in Butte County. Paradise itself is around 70 miles south of Redding, where the Carr Fire killed eight people and destroyed more than 1,000 homes in July.

The hospital was totally destroyed, Mike Mangas, a spokesman for operator Dignity Health, said.

Thousands are also without power in the region, which is just north of Sacramento.

"It's been a roller coaster", one resident who stayed with his house told KCBS. "You could feel it". Two other fires are now active northwest of Los Angeles.

McLean said the fire fight was hampered by winds of up to 40 miles per hour, which spread embers far ahead of the main fire after it started around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Queues to leave the city have resulted in traffic jams and gridlock, which has led people to leave cars abandoned on roads as they rush to safety.

But when she inspected it, Kowalczyke realized it was from a fire manual that includes information about fire hoses and the proper pressure.

The paper looked like it was from a book, she said.

The fire was the fiercest of several wind-driven blazes across California on Thursday, during one of the state's worst years for wildfires.
