Chicago police: Officer shot at hospital

A witness named James Gray told Chicago television station ABC 7 that he saw multiple people shot: "It looked like he was turning and shooting people at random".

- A Chicago police officer was hospitalized and "multiple" people were shot, including a "possible offender" Monday afternoon near Mercy Hospital in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city's South Side.

"At least one possible offender is shot", said Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.

The hospital is being partially evacuated, reports say.

Police did not immediately say how many people were injured and to what extent they were injured. Aditia said officers responded quickly and the gunman and the officers exchanged gunfire.
