Over the past three months, the world has seen a dazzling array of Britain's crown jewels, from Meghan Markle's Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau to Princess Eugenie's Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara.

As per protocol, female members of both the Dutch and British royal families wore ballgowns and tiaras for the glittering event at Buckingham Palace.

The jewellery was so stunning it nearly outshone her Alexander McQueen dress, an icy blue-grey taffeta ball gown with a dropped waist falling to a full skirt with a slight train swirling around her feet.

But as keen royal watchers will have quickly noticed, the "Lover's Knot" tiara is also the iconic tiara favoured by the late Princess Diana after her wedding to Prince Charles in 1981. An eye-catching, matching necklace completed the ensemble, which Vogue reported is the same necklace Queen Alexandra wore to her wedding in 1863.
