When does the leash become too long?

Jackson's firing came a day after the Browns (2-5-1) lost their 25th straight road game - 20 of them coming with Jackson in charge. Much can be salvaged if the Browns don't stand pat and let the losses mount.

Cleveland Browns coach Hue Jackson meets with reporters after an NFL football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh, Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018.

Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will take over as interim head coach, and running backs/associate head coach Freddie Kitchens will replace Haley as offensive coordinator, according to the team's announcement. Jackson, who went 3-36-1 in two-plus seasons, was dismissed on Monday by general manager John Dorsey with the backing of owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam.

Of course, they started off in a jovial manner this season.

With the Red Sox least effective starter on the hill, L.A. managed just a solo home run from Joc Pederson on a flat changeup. Jackie Bradley Jr . rewarded Alex Cora's trust in him with a game-tying homer in the eighth inning .

In a freaky and coincidental twist, the past five Browns' head coaches - Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, Rob Chudzinski and Mike Pettine - were all fired after the second Steelers game of that season.

It hasn't been a good couple of days for coaches in Cleveland.

The franchise fired Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley in a decision announced early Monday afternoon.

The Browns could continue to make changes in their locker room this week. "We don't need to change much".
