International Friendly Report: England v Switzerland 11 September 2018

Gareth Southgate has made nine changes to the England side that lost 2-1 to Spain on Saturday night for tonight's friendly against Switzerland at the King Power stadium.

Operating in support of Danny Welbeck at the sharp end of a 3-5-2 system, Rashford was England's liveliest player throughout, and looked their most likely source of a goal even before he netted for the fifth time in worldwide football.

England have called up Leicester City duo Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray from the under-21s for the Switzerland friendly.

"We could have been two or three-nil down at half-time", Danny Rose, the left back who was one of the few players to impress, said.

The latter kept a clean sheet against the Swiss but he lacked the assurance of Pickford and the Everton keeper is certain to come back for England's next game, against Croatia on 12 October in the Uefa Nations League.

With their rendition of Atomic Kitten's "Whole Again" in tribute to Gareth Southgate on loop for nearly the entire game, Rashford's goal was a rare moment of respite.

College drops Nike from athletic uniforms following Kaepernick ad
Nike has sponsored Kaepernick since 2011 and the advertising campaign marks the 30th anniversary of its "Just Do It" slogan. I'm also thinking the irony is that while I am not privy to the numbers, it's likely he gained a lucrative Nike contract.

Although, the Swiss got a big chance to punish them for poor defending but Xherdan Shaqiri shot wide from a one-on-one position with an on-rushing Jack Butland on six minutes.

And they most recently played away from London when they hosted Costa Rica prior to the World Cup.

Among the starters looking to stake a claim for a regular berth up front was Marcus Rashford, who was paired up top with Danny Welbeck. Everybody has got to play a part in that but the clubs own the player and they have got to do the right thing for themselves.

He was England's focal point in attack during a cagey game against Switzerland, driving his team forward with some driving runs through the middle.

While Gareth Southgate's men did well after the break, the first half made for uncomfortable viewing.

Switzerland looked impressively assured on the ball, managing to find space in midfield in a manner that generally proved beyond England, and saw 65 percent of possession in the first half.
