White House paranoia deepens after Omarosa tapes

Manigault Newman, a former White House aide and ex-"Apprentice" contestant, released excerpts from audio recordings she made of President Trump and Chief of Staff John Kelly in 2017.

As Yahoo! pointed out, receiving money for an appearance could have posed serious ethical concerns for the former White House official, however, Omarosa filmed her segment of Say Yes before Trump's January 2017 inauguration.

Trump denied that in a tweet late Monday night, saying "there are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a bad and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa". "I never expected him to lie to the country".

While Manigault Newman's claims appear to make sense in the context she provides them, the jury is still out on how truthful her new book is overall.

Omarosa married Newman - her second husband - at Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., where she walked down the aisle in a lace pink dress, all while she was employed at the White House. Asked on MSNBC's "Hardball" if special counsel Robert Mueller - investigating possible co-ordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation - would be interested in any of them, she said, "If his office calls again, anything they want, I'll share". McClain denied he played a tape for her.

Federal election filings reviewed by ABC News support her allegations that payments were made but do not indicate whether the payments were contingent on signing some kind of nondisclosure agreement.

According to the Washington Examiner, Ryan was compelled to address Newman after the former Apprentice star began her first stop on her book tour with a visit to Meet the Press.

"When I can tell my story, it is a profound story that I know the world will want to hear", she told ABC News in December.

Manigault Newman has said she was offered $15,000 to sign a non-disclosure agreement when she was sacked last Decemberthat was, "as harsh and restrictive as any I'd seen in all my years of television".

"The allegation is not credible, and indeed is ridiculous, particularly in light of the timing of her departure from the White House-December 12, 2017", he said in an August 10 tweet.

While publicizing the book, she released an audio recording of a discussion, she says, she secretly recorded inside the White House.

Trump had "always been kind to me, as I said repeatedly in dozens and dozens of interviews", she continued. "And the bottom line is that yes, she was complicit, but she was doing all this knowing that there was going to be a payoff in the end for her, and then once she got upset with him or he got upset with her or whatever happened, she decides to turn on him".

"It sounded as if he used it every day", Manigault Newman said. He offered her a "friendly departure", where she could resign to avoid damage to her reputation.

Manigault Newman is married to Jacksonville Pastor John Newman. He said Kelly had called her a "loser & nothing but problems", but he himself had tried to save her job - because he liked her public comments about him.
