Survivor rescued from mosque flattened in Indonesia quake

A woman on Tuesday was pulled alive from the rubble of a collapsed grocery store in the north, near the epicentre of Sunday's 6.9 magnitude quake, the second tremor to rock the tropical island in a week.

Local authorities, global relief groups and the central government have begun organising aid, but shattered roads have slowed efforts to reach survivors.

All the tourists have been evacuated to nearby seaports of Bangsal, Benoa and Lembar from the three tourism attraction islands, namely Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno, in West Nusa Tenggara province, the spokesman said.

The Istanbul-based agency distributed first aid material, food, water, blanket, cloth and tent in Indonesia's eastern Lambok island, the agency said in a statement on Wednesday. She described the panic to get off the island with overcrowded boats setting off for Lombok and injured passengers being pushed off.

"This is an emergency situation [because] many passengers are coming; hence [the airport] will operate for 24 hours", said Lombok International Airport general manager I Ngurah Ardita in Lombok on Monday.

Hotel rooms were provided free for the affected foreign tourists after the evacuation from the three islands, he said.
