Heat and humidity before a big change

With the heat index, which takes into account humidity, it's going to feel much worse.

It looks humid to very humid with some showers/storms at times Monday-Thursday of next week with highs overall at 85-90 & lows in the 60s to the lower 70s. He said a cold front will begin to move into ME on Friday, with temperatures expected to drop into the 70s by Saturday. The heat index will rise into the upper 80s by mid morning, followed by heat indices in the upper 90s to near 100 this afternoon.

There may be scattered clouds this afternoon, but abundant sunshine will effectively add another 5 to 15-degrees to the heat indices, making conditions extremely unsafe. The high hits 91, with head indices in the mid 90s.

"Heat-related illnesses possible through this time period, especially for at-risk populations such as the elderly, very young, and those with mental illnesses", the NY weather service office warned. There is a slight chance for a shower or storm.

Sea surface temperatures have really warmed up over the past couple of weeks and are now in the 69-70 degree range.

After the 4th festivities, Thursday will be dry with highs into the low 90s. These prolonged heat waves are tough to manage, so do keep the water handy and spend as little time in the direct sun as possible.

Steamy conditions are in store Sunday night with the low around 79 and only light winds. Cooler sea breezes will develop on the shore each day with highs in the 80s.

Tomorrow uncertainty exists on details with rainfall with different scenarios indicated from the computer models so we'll have to reevaluate this tomorrow with our short term models but expect at least a chance of isolated to scattered storms all day.

This weekend is so hot, that it can be downright risky; otherwise it's great to enjoy water activities. "We might have periods of showers and thunderstorms as well when we get into the middle part of next week and that might help suppress some of that heat".
