Chelsea name club legend Gianfranco Zola as Maurizio Sarri's assistant

Maurizio Sarri was unable to give guarantees over the futures of Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois amid speculation the Belgian pair could leave Chelsea this summer. "I don't want to talk about the transfer market and I'm not that interested in it".

Forward Hazard and goalkeeper Courtois, who are both recovering after helping their country finish third at the World Cup, have been heavily linked with Real Madrid.

'It would be great to be successful with Maurizio and for the club and I will give my best, as I did in the past as a player, so I will give my best in my new position.

He added: "We knew already for a while that Sarri was going to become the new manager".

Chelsea have reportedly identified two players that they could pursue in the event that Eden Hazard leaves the club this summer.

To do otherwise would be another example of what Trump calls "U.S. foolishness and stupidity". I think that the United States has been foolish. "I think that's an incredible offer".

The 59-year-old was appointed as Antonio Conte's replacement on Saturday and started working with the players at Chelsea's Cobham training ground this week - without a number of squad members who were recovering after playing at the World Cup. Napoli pushed Juventus hard in the Serie A title race last season and, although Sarri does not have any trophies on his CV, his comments that a coach's duty is to improve the players at his disposal are likely to sit well with the Chelsea hierarchy.

"I will go back and I will see what they want and how they say it", he said after the tournament ended.

Hazard has also previously said he would wait for clarity over the future of former boss Antonio Conte before making a decision over his future.

"After six wonderful years at Chelsea, it might be time to discover something different", he said. I hope I will show this when I am living here. "Obviously, with this World Cup, I think what was on the table is different than what I can have. This is what any manager wants to do and any club wants to do but we will have to see how transfer market goes over next few days", Sarri told reporters during his unveiling on Wednesday.

"Our owner is an extremely reserved person, so I don't want to start a work relationship with him by speaking about private things".
