'Tetris' is coming to PSVR as 'Tetris Effect' and here's a trailer

No word yet on if the game plays like the classic Tetris games, but judging by the visuals and audio from the trailer (above), it looks as if this latest entry in the long-running series has been heavily infused with some Lumines and Rez vibes. Unfortunately, it wasn't the most exciting of reveals as the game turned out to be Tetris Effect, a highly stylized version of the iconic puzzle game.

In a pleasant surprise, Sony has just revealed a brand new Tetris game for PS4/PSVR - Tetris Effect.

Tetris Effect will be available on the E3 show floor to check out, but readers are encouraged to keep an eye out on the official PlayStation blog, as a demo will become available at some point, as the game nears launch sometime this Fall 2018. Music, backgrounds, sounds, and special effects all shimmer, pulse, and even explode, surrounding the player with three-dimensional worlds that react to your gameplay decisions. Tetris Effect features bright neon graphics, hypnotic music, and virtual reality support with PSVR.

Sid Shuman who announced the game said that this countdown is PlayStation's way of trying something new.
