Reigning World Cup champion Germany eliminated on controversial video review

'We're sorry for not playing like world champions, and as painful as it is, we deserve to be out'. The disappointment of us being eliminated is just huge. For South Korea to advance, it would have needed Mexico to beat Sweden.

The Germans, who have won four World Cups and finished runners-up four times, entered this year's tournament heavily backed to retain their title.

The Germans panicked - three minutes into a 5-minute stoppage time, and needing to score twice, they threw everything at the South Koreans, as Manuel Neuer left his area in a desperate attempt to add something, anything.

With Germany's loss, Sweden and Mexico advance from Group F. Sweden beat Mexico 3-0 in their match, which was played concurrently with the South Korean shocker.

But disaster struck on Wednesday in their last Group "F" match against South Korea in Kazan.

Jung Woo-Young's free kick seemed harmless enough but Neuer inexplicably fumbled it, and only a quick reaction from the Germany No.1 thwarted Son Heung-Min from tucking home the rebound. Though this German squad was not a lot different from the one that lifted the 2014 World Cup, it lacked conviction.

Victory will confirm Brazil as group winners, but coach Tite is warning that under-fire superstar Neymar can not be expected to win the World Cup on his own and is not yet at full fitness.

BNSF: Estimated 230,000 gallons of oil spilled in derailment
Within hours of the derailment, BNSF had brought in dozens of semitrailer trucks loaded with equipment to clean up the spill. The spill threatened to contaminate drinking water for residents about 150 miles (240 km) downstream in Omaha, Nebraska.

"That's hard to say".

However, no one was happier than Mexico, which clinched a berth to the knockout stage with South Korea's win in spite of a monumental 3-0 shut out against Sweden.

The scene in Kazan is set - a must-win match for a team of established stars, World Cup veterans and reigning champions against a "minnow" side with no hope of advancing to the Last 16.

Andreas Granqvist converted the 18th successful penalty of the 2018 World Cup, when he put Sweden 2-0 up against Mexico. It is embarrassing that we will be eliminated from the table in this group.

Loew was appointed national team coach after the 2006 World Cup in Germany, when he was assistant to Juergen Klinsmann. But South Korea refused to break, as the two sides played to a scoreless standstill for 90 minutes.

And while Joachim Low's side lifted the trophy in Brazil in 2014, they joined Spain, Italy and France in the list of teams to have been dumped out in the group stage following victory in the previous edition of the tournament.

Germany dominated this clash between holders and underdogs, but Korea Republic prevailed by showing their defining characteristics: passion and determination.
