Atletico's top scorer each of the past three seasons, Griezmann, 27, wanted to end the speculation regarding his future before his France side faces Australia in its World Cup opener on Saturday.

'Atletico are doing everything they can to keep the team growing, it's fantastic, they're making a lot of efforts, I cannot stand it, I need to tell people that I want to stay'.

"I do not have anything clear, if I'm going to leave or I'm going to stay", he said in the show.

Whilst Moreno said afterwards: "Call me old-school, maybe I am from a different generation, maybe I don't know people these days!"

The revelation was the end of a transfer saga that lasted over a year.

The France striker had been heavily linked with a €100 million (£88 million) move to Barcelona this summer, having previous year been a reported target for Manchester United. I'm sure there are plenty of players at clubs below the elite that feel this way'.

Griezmann looked likely to be swayed by ongoing interest from Barca, with the LaLiga champions' president Josep Maria Bartomeu in May revealing he had spoken with the player's agent.

However, Pique's hopes of lining up alongside Griezmann next season were dashed when the prolific forward confirmed that he would remain at Atletico.

A video then circulated on social media on Thursday, teasing that an announcement was forthcoming, before Griezmann made the decision.

One of those players is Griezmann's global team-mate Thomas Lemar, who appears bound for Atletico after the club announced on Tuesday that an agreement has been reached to sign Monaco star. And he will be sticking around to help them mount a challenge in the Champions League as well.
