Pep Guardiola has given Mikel Arteta his blessing to speak with Arsenal as the Spaniard prepares to rejoin his former club as Arsene Wenger's successor.

Arsene Wenger admits not signing five-time Ballon d'Or victor Cristiano Ronaldo remains his biggest regret during his tenure at Arsenal while revealing he tried to sign two current FC Barcelona superstars.

Asked to name the club's player of the season, Nicholas told Sky Sports: "I don't think anybody has earned the tag of player of the year".

"He was a leader, he has a good passion for the game".

Arteta played under Wenger at Arsenal and is now joint-assistant coach at Manchester City, although the 36-year-old has already received the support of Pep Guardiola, should he want to leave. He knows what is important at the club and he was captain.

Many fans are apprehensive about the appointment given his lack of experience.

She appeared alongside Reeve, who played Superman , and the two would reprise their role in the film's three sequels. Kidder was reportedly homeless for a brief period in 1996 as a result of her struggles with mental health.

"[Arteta] has been an assistant of Guardiola as well, so overall I think he has the qualities".

The board are keeping Arsenal fans in the dark about the proceedings taking place to choose a new manager after Arsene Wenger's departure so why Henry has been made an option so late in the search is unclear.

Boro Primorac, a long-term coach and friend of Wenger, was always likely to leave and a number of other members of the backroom staff have also been relieved of their duties.

"I don't want to influence that publicly, because for me I believe it is important that they make their choice in an objective way", he said, "and after, once they make a decision, I will support them".

According to reports, the Gunners board are now slowly pushing for Arteta and the former Everton midfielder could soon be unveiled as the new boss before the start of World Cup.
