Serena Williams makes victorious return to Roland Garros

The 36-year-old American had not played in one of tennis's biggest tournaments since winning the Australian Open in January 2017 for her 23rd grand slam title, breaking a tie with Steffi Graf for the most in the professional era.

Barty, just 17 then and prior to an 18-month hiatus from tennis, has since established herself in the world's top 20 - and Williams is super wary of the threat the Australian poses.

Williams spoke about her tight-fitting outfit after her opening round victory over Kristyna Pliskova at the French Open.

It's Williams' first major championship since giving birth in September, and this was was her first match on clay this season.

Williams is no stranger to the French Open and has won the Grand Slam tournament three times: in 2002, 2013, and 2015. The younger of the Williams sister, who lost in the first round at Grand Slam level only once in 2012, when the defeat against Virginie Razzano persuaded her to start a brand new partnership with Patrick Mouratoglou, gave Pliskova the fourth first-round defeat in as many appearances here.

Gavrilova, the women's 24th seed, battled back from a set and a service break down to defeat Romanian Sorana Cirstea 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 in a niggly encounter on Tuesday.

"I call it my Wakanda-inspired catsuit", she said.

While Solo establishes Qi'ra's past with Han on their homeworld, Corellia, it also leaves several aspects of her history to be revealed at a later time.

"You don't have to put her back at number one because she left at number one but try to figure out some sort of happy medium where it's fair for all". "I'm just taking it a day at a time".

As French organisers rigidly use WTA rankings to determine their seedings she is the most unsafe of floaters. It's been two years since I played here. It was Williams who broke first for a 3-2 lead, only for Pliskova to return the favour and leave her illustrious opponent visibly frustrated.

"Forgotten how Serena is hated by the Roland Garros crowds?"

Garcia, one of 10 French women in the main draw, the second most of any country after U.S. with 19, gave Duan her 13th defeat in 13 meetings against Top 10 players. Dads are, too, but I actually breast-fed for a really, really, really long time, and so I just had this real connection with my daughter.

"So it is definitely a little functionality to it".

Williams will place the No17 seed, Australia's Ashleigh Barty, in the second round. I feel like it's all going to work out.
