Flags set to honor veterans

MOULTRIE - West Township Memorial Association has announced that Memorial Day services on May 28 will be held at Moultrie Chapel on state Route 172. There will be a ceremony and rifle squad salute at 9 a.m.at Veterans Memorial Park, 6 Village Green. The display of full-sized American flags at Main Street and Bellefonte Avenue is a community project of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven.

In Rowan, the Lions will serve a pancake breakfast from 8-9 a.m. Monday, May 28 at the school community center. The parade units will stop for a few minutes on the Beverly-Waterford Bridge while a wreath and flowers are thrown in the river to honor naval veterans. It will step off at 10 a.m. and proceed north on Broadway, right onto Pleasant Street and right onto Charles Street for a ceremony.

The Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade will be Monday at 10 a.m.

At each cemetery, a 21-gun salute to deceased veterans will be done.

All are welcome to stay following the service for coffee, juice and donuts.

The flags will be installed Saturday morning, starting at 9 a.m.

In order to honor the veterans who are fortunate enough to rejoin us after their service, we should do everything in our power to ensure they are adequately cared for. Mr. Bowden's address will be "A Century of Service".

- The Lafayette Amvets Post 33 will meet on Monday at 9:30 a.m.at St. Mary's Church on the corners of Pacific and Bramhall avenues. Everyone is welcomed to attend.

American Legion Post 269 Memorial Day Service, 11 a.m. Ralya Elementary School, 5645 School St., Haslett.

The American Legion Edward Arthur Rafferty Post No. 632 of Grampian will conduct military honor services on Monday, May 28, at local cemeteries and the Grampian Honor Roll. The service will include an appearance by the Legion's drill team. Lozinsky and Szabo. Following Mass will be a Memorial Day service at Dr. Ercel Webb Park/Lafayette Park, followed by a luncheon for all members, family, and friends, at the Broadway Diner, at 1075 Broadway, in Bayonne.
