The cold case was reopened in October, and this week, aerial images and photographs showed a crew digging at the edge of a rural wooded field on the property of a vacant farm in Macomb Township.

A second murdered girl is buried at a wooded site where the remains of a teen were uncovered 10 years ago - "no question" - said the head of the police department where the preteen was reported missing almost 40 years ago.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer says that although there are no new updates in the investigation, they are committed to continuing the search well into the night, and for as long as it takes. The older man abducted her from a Dairy Queen in Eastpointe after gaining her trust by saying he was planning a surprise party for her boyfriend, according to the Macomb Daily.

Ream was convicted in 2008 in the slaying of 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki, who was last seen in 1986. Her remains were found at the same location after Ream pinpointed a spot to police back in 2008. He was already in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl when investigators got him to describe how and where he buried the girl two decades before.

Ream is serving life in prison for killing Zarzycki who disappeared in 1986. "We have probable cause to believe that (Kimberly) is buried there", he explained.

Authorities resumed digging in a MI forest Wednesday for the remains of as many as seven girls who have been missing for decades. Dwyer repeated they're "cautiously optimistic" they will find remains.

They were digging for the remains of 12-year-old Kimberly King who disappeared in September of 1979 after a sleepover at a friend's house.

Police began searching the site after speaking with a man serving life in prison for the slaying of another girl whose body was found nearby.

Police in MI are searching for the remains of up to six girls after a cold case dating back to the 1970s was reopened.

King's sister, Konnie Beyma, told The Associated Press that she has contacted detectives and is hoping to recover Kimberly's remains. She never made it there and was reported missing the next day. The work was to restart Wednesday.

Equipped with bulldozers and other heavy machinery, multiple police agencies searched a wooded area in Macomb County, 30 miles north of Detroit, Michigan.

Dwyer did not give the names of the other missing girls.
