Sixers top Pistons for 12th straight win behind Ben Simmons, JJ Redick

JJ Redick scored 25 points, and the 76ers won their 12th straight game, eliminating Detroit from playoff contention with a 115-108 victory over the Pistons on Wednesday night.

Philadelphia has its longest winning streak since 1990.

In the process, the Sixers extended their winning streak to 12 games. Philadelphia trails the Cavs by a half-game in the race for the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. We haven't played a playoff game together. They have qualified for the playoffs just once in the last nine seasons. The 7-foot rookie was 8 of 14 from the field, including 5 of 6 on 3-pointers. Luke Kennard flashed his crafty playmaking ability en route to 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists on 5-9 shooting in 25 minutes off the bench. Ersan Ilyasova scored 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Richaun Holmes scored 10 points. His 16.8 potential assists are the fourth-most in the league behind Russell Westbrook, James and John Wall and he assists on more than a third of Philadelphia's baskets (38 percent) compared to 28 percent by James during his rookie year.

Philadelphia, which has won 12 straight despite losing Joel Embiid for the immediate future with a left orbital bone fracture, has scored 115 or more points in eight of its last nine games and ranks ninth in the National Basketball Association at 109.1 points per game. Games against Denver, Toronto and Golden State will test the Pacers heavily.

The Pistons fought to the bitter end, scoring 37 fourth quarter points, but couldn't make stops on the defensive end. Ben Simmons finished with 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

Needing a win to stay mathematically in the hunt, the Pistons fell flat soon after the tip and went behind as many as 19 in the second quarter in Detroit midweek. He scored 10 of his points in the second quarter alone.

The Sixers have won 11 in a row and will look to complete a four-game season series against Detroit.
