New look for the Toyota Aygo shown at 2018 Geneva Motor Show

An all-new 2.0-litre hybrid offers greater power and more dynamic driving characteristics, with 177PS. Toyota hasn't issued any details on the output or performance of the regular petrol, a 1.2-litre turbo, but we'd expect it to have similar figures to the version that's in the C-HR (and the current Auris); so around 114bhp.

Diesel's fall from grace has pushed manufacturers to turn their attention to producing more in-demand petrol models or make the jump to electric, or at least hybrid, vehicles.

The entry-level Auris Hybrid offers "outstanding fuel economy and low Carbon dioxide emissions", according to Toyota, as well as up to 50-percent all-electric driving on the everyday commute.

For several years, HEV versions have been the dominant powertrain where offered. All contribute to better handling and stability without compromising ride and comfort. The new setup - detailed by Toyota just a few days ago - uses a 2.0-liter engine with 180 hp, promising a much sportier attitude - a fact highlighted by the paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Israeli Police Question Netanyahu in Third Corruption Investigation
Netanyahu has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has dismissed the accusations as a witch hunt orchestrated by a hostile media. In the meantime, Netanyahu is not obligated to resign and has indicated he will fight the charges while remaining in office.

"New Corolla hatch is a more premium and stylish auto that guarantees a more rewarding driving experience and places a priority on the highest active and passive safety standards". The rest of the new model's design exploits the switch to TNGA to be 25mm lower and 30mm wider than the old Auris, and the front overhang has also been cut by 20mm.

Longer and lower than its predecessor, the new 2018 Auris will cut a sleeker shape on the road too, thanks to its longer bonnet and new roofline that is 47mm lower compared to the outgoing model.

Overall length has increased by 40 mm, all of which has been absorbed within a longer wheelbase.

Toyota's desire for more dynamic styling is bolstered by a narrower grille and full-LED headlights. A more dramatic rear windshield rake and fender hips also lend to the hatch's more planted look. The rear is also more rounded, with all-LED light clusters and a larger bumper. It's created to enhance the perception of width and a low centre of gravity. Toyota even offers an optional two-tone color scheme which combines the body color with a black finish for the roof and pillars.
