Google may be gearing up to rebrand its Android Wear smartwatch operating system. The user named H3x0n made a new post in the android wear sub-reddit where he/she put up an image of the new discovery. Further research by XDA-Developers revealed the recently-launched Android P preview refers to Android Wear as Wear OS throughout its internals.
Whether in this form or another, news of the next major Android Wear update is expected at the upcoming Google I/O conference, May 8-10, 2018, in Mountain View, USA. A potential refresh of the platform may change that. However, it appears that Google might be about to give its Android Wear platform a makeover, thereby reigniting interest in the sector.
The notification which the reddit user has received was originally sent by Google Play Services from the functionality called "helps you find and interact with services and devices close to you". Until then, we remain skeptical as to what Google may have up its sleeve for your wrist.

The reason for this is probably due to neutrality, same reason that Android Pay was rebranded to Google Pay which is because Android Pay could be used on Apple phones.
