UNC Basketball: Jalek Felton Suspended By University

A player for the UNC-Chapel Hill men's basketball player is now off the team.

North Carolina has announced that guard Jalek Felton has been suspended from the university and is not now eligible to participate in any sanctioned activities. A release announcing the move cited federal privacy laws as the reason for the university's inability to comment.

The 6-foot-3 Felton has played in all 22 games as a reserve point guard, averaging 2.9 points and 1.6 assists.

Felton had a season-high 15 points against Western Carolina on December 6. After playing a bigger role in Carolina's backcourt early in the season, his minutes have diminished in ACC play.

North Carolina plays at Clemson tonight. UNC (16-6, 5-4) has lost its last two, falling at Virginia Tech last Monday and at home against North Carolina State at home Saturday. He is the nephew of 2005 national champion Raymond Felton.
